 Inside Mr Pask's Dolls House

 :

This house was made in 1949 by Mr Pask who worked as a French polisher for the Royal Insurance Company in Liverpool. Mr Pask described the house as a "Shakespearean Cottage Style House" and it does look very like some of the old houses in Stratford upon Avon. The house opens at the front but unlike many front opening houses it is competely finished on all four sides including the back. The house seems to be about 1/8th scale rather than the 1/12th which is more common nowadays.
The house is fitted with a very ingenious system of electric lighting. The lights are made to look like old oil lamps and the bulbs are soldered in as an integral part of the lamps. Fortunately we have not had to change any of these bulbs yet. Each lamp is suspended by three "chains" which hook onto brass screw eyes in the ceiling. Two of these three make up the electrical circuit. The bulbs are 6v 0.5amp wired in a series/parallel arrangement fed from a 12 v supply. Mr Pask used a 12v car battery but we use a 12v transformer.
The house is very well finished both inside and outside and took a year to complete. The contents, made by Mr Pask over a ten year period, are even more remarkable. The furniture is exquisitely made, mostly in walnut, and the house contains sets of hand made pewter plates, tankards, cutlery etc.
